The XCITE™ has demonstrated sub-femtogram absolute sensitivity and sub-parts per million relative detection sensitivity within 1 second. This is a combination of the system’s patent-pending x-ray source and proprietary x-ray mirror lens designs, and the inherent advantages of the technique, which includes lack of bremsstrahlung production.

The XCITE’s x-ray excitation enables analysis of hydrated biological specimens and polymers without sample preparation to solve critical questions within the biological and polymer research communities, including: metallomics (trace elemental mapping in diseased tissue) and nanoparticle distribution in cells (for drug development)
b. Sensitivities of below 100 ppm can be challenging for EPMA, requiring long analysis times. The XCITE provides sub-ppm for ultratrace applications, such as rare earth element concentrations for geochronology or trace elements/contaminants in advanced materials
